Lancaster Central Market Trust hires executive director | Local News
The Lancaster Central Market Trust has hired a longtime nonprofit leader for the newly created position of executive director.
Melissa Siwiec, former executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lancaster County, has been named executive director of the Central Market Trust, the 11-member council that operates the city-owned market. It started on March 16.
In his new role, Siwiec will focus on fundraising and implementing a strategic plan for the market. Mary Goss continues as Market Operations Manager and Kathy Wachsman is Market Outreach Manager.
Siwiec, of New Providence, left Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lancaster County in 2016 after a six-year stint at the helm of the organization. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Community Impact for United Way of Lancaster County. She most recently worked as a non-profit consultant.
“There are so many great things out there: access to fresh, healthy food, support for small businesses, reducing our carbon footprint and our rich history,” Siwiec said. “I am excited to begin our strategic plan and expand our outreach through innovative programming.
