Indonesian envoy offers market access to boost trade with ASEAN – Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Adam M. Tugio said on Saturday that Pakistan could not only benefit from the Indonesian market but also develop its strong economic relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. East (ASEAN) via Jakarta.

Speaking at the Pakistan-Indonesia Joint Business Form (JBF), organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Tugio said his country was a gateway to the region. ASEAN and that Pakistan should exploit it for trade and exports by developing close cooperative ties with Indonesia.

He said China enjoys about $600 billion in two-way trade with ASEAN, but Pakistan-ASEAN trade is less than 1 percent, which should be increased for better results.

He insisted on promoting cooperation among women entrepreneurs from Pakistan, Indonesia and the ASEAN region which would boost trade between these countries.

He said his embassy plans to hold an economy dialogue involving B2B and G2G encounters between the two countries in addition to holding an exhibition of the two countries’ products to highlight their potential for bilateral trade.

The two sides identified many areas, including real estate, construction, mining and minerals, textiles, information technology, e-commerce, infrastructure development, tourism, women’s entrepreneurship, youth development and spices that offered great potential for mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
